Application and Timeline

Fellows are identified following conversations with senior leaders in administrative divisions across the university. Initiations to join the program are extended in early August, and the program formally begins in October and runs until the end of June. Each Fellow is assigned a “near peer” who is a former participant in the program.

Discussion Series

Throughout the year, Nassau Fellows have an opportunity to have a lunch discussion at Prospect House with senior administrators at Princeton. This past year, Fellows met with these individuals:

Gadi Dechter, Vice President for Communications and Government Affairs

Programming

Throughout the year, Fellows attended workshops to develop skills and enhance their own professional development. The following administrators met with Fellows in the past year:

Shawn Maxam, Associate Provost for Diversity and Inclusion, reviewed the University’s strategy plans for equity and inclusion.
Kamara Blackman, Career Development Specialist in Human Resources, presented on the development of professional networks and mentorship.
Kim Betz, the Executive Director of Career Development, presented a framework for holistic career development.
John Weeren, Director of Princeton Writes, lead a workshop on professional communication.

Fellows are also encouraged to offer programs to highlight their own work.

Networking

At the conclusion of the Fellowship year, participants are invited to enter contact information in a database available to all Fellows; this allows the network to expand beyond any particular cohort to all participants of the program. Thus, Fellows will be able to connect with other professionals at different points of their professional careers, whether they continue to work at Princeton or another institution. In addition to this online networking tool, Fellows at Princeton will be invited to social events and programs throughout the year so that they are able to meet the current-year cohort and maintain connections with other Nassau Fellows.

Higher Education Reading Series

Throughout the year, the Fellows receive articles from journals and newspapers highlighting current topics in higher education. Fellows are invited to discuss articles in our online forum and also bring these conversations into our in-person activities.
